The European-based Austria-based Biogest has announced that it has received an order to build the first biogas plant near the capital Ankara called Akyurt, in cooperation with Enerlinc Ltd.
The company said that the biogas plant in Turkey would be a key reference station for more projects in the country.
The plant has a production capacity of 3.12 megawatts and is run by only cows with 270 tons per year.
During the production process, the slurry will be converted to a high-quality organic fertilizer, which replaces the use of chemical fertilizers.

One of the most studied and researched topics in Turkey is the production of biogas from animal, agricultural and household waste.
Turkish law prohibits the spreading of fresh manure into fields, creating another incentive to convert manure into energy.
